| The Yi’ Xing Story - Art in a Teapot Yi’ Xing (yee-shing) Many remarkable qualities make a Yi’ Xing teapot one of the finest vessels in the world for tea brewing. The special purple or red zisha clays are found only in Yi’ Xing, a city north of Shanghai, China. These unglazed teapots allow the rich porous clays to absorb the flavor, smell and color of the tea brewed in it.
